Beskos is a new product, and the open edition is how it gets found. There is no trial to start, no seat to buy and no call to book: clone the repository, bring a server, and the ten apps are yours for as many people as you like.
Nothing held back
The edition you run for free is the product, not a sample of it. Mail, calendar, files, meetings, chat, boards and the wiki, with every security feature included.
It does not expire
Business Source Licence 1.1, and each released version turns into Apache 2.0 four years after its release. Nothing can be taken back from an instance already running.
Your server, your data
It runs on your machine, under your jurisdiction, with no account here and nothing calling home. We only know you exist if you write to us.

A complete workspace, not a mail service
European alternatives usually cover part of the working day: encrypted mail for individuals, or file storage somebody has to host and maintain. Beskos covers the whole of it — mail, chat, boards, calendar, files, documents, contacts, meetings, notes and wiki — in one managed account, on your own domain.

The difference between a bundle and an application
Five tools from five vendors communicate through integrations somebody has to configure and maintain. Here the connections are part of the product, because everything shares the same database — and the same jurisdiction.

AI assistant
An assistant that does not export your data
The assistant is part of the product and works inside the application, with the context of mail, calendar and the team wiki. The models are open-source and served on European infrastructure: content is not disclosed to the organisations that developed them, and is not used to train them.
Assistant and wiki indexing run on European infrastructure. An organisation can disable the assistant for all of its users.

Leaving
The exit is part of the product.
The cost of changing provider is what keeps most organisations where they are. These are the terms on which data leaves Beskos.
Export without asking
Mail over IMAP, calendars as iCalendar, contacts as vCard or CSV, files as ZIP — including whole folders. No request, no waiting period, no export fee.
The domain and the sending reputation remain yours
Your own SPF, DKIM, DMARC and reverse DNS. If you leave, mail keeps working at the next provider under the same domain.
Retention and deletion in writing
Retention periods, deletion on termination and breach notification are set out in the data processing agreement, not in a support reply.
Nothing to cancel
There is no contract and no seat count: the edition you run is free, and it keeps running whether or not we are still here. A commitment period is not what should keep a customer.

Beskos is new. The whole product is on GitHub and free to run on your own server, for as many people as you like — that is what exists today. Two paid shapes are coming, and neither has a price until it does.
